Nursery School

Integral to Rawmarsh Children’s Centre, we are a Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council maintained Nursery School. Sessions are 3 hours long and each child is entitled to five sessions of free Nursery Education per week. Usually, children will then have three terms in Foundation Nursery before moving on to Primary School. Your child will be with a group of children aged 3-4 years.

This is the start of your child’s education and our aim is to make it an exciting and enjoyable learning time. We want you, as parents and friends, to get to know the centre well and feel that you are part of it. We hope that both you and your child will enjoy your time with us and that you will share the new experiences together.

Waiting List

Parents can put their child’s names on the waiting list and children will be admitted in line with Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council’s admissions policy, in the term after their 3rd birthday, places permitting. Parents will be contacted during the previous term and places will be offered in date of birth order. Once your child has been offered a place, you can attend a meeting to find out more about the Nursery and visit with your child prior to admission.

Session Times

Morning session:      8.45am-11.45am

Afternoon session:   12.30pm – 3.30pm

Wraparound Care

We also have a limited number of ‘wrap around’ care places. These include Breakfast Club, which opens at 8am, Lunch Timers, which covers the period from 11.30am-12.30pm and Tea Timers, which covers from 3.30pm-5.45pm. All these sessions include a meal which is freshly prepared on the premises by our Cook and Kitchen Assistant. Menus are based on the Caroline Walker Trust Guidelines for a healthy diet for young children.
